A little while back in 2004, producer J.J. Abrams (Cloverfield, Star Trek) proposed a new show to ABC, called LOST. A show where survivors of an Oceanic 815 plane crash each have a destiny on an island. They didn't know it at the time, but were the chosen ones, yet only one could be the perfect candidate for the Island.
MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!
Synopisis Seasons 1-2

These chosen ones were all candidates sent to the island to be given a test of right or wrong. Only the one who knew the balance and accepted his or her destiny would become the new “Jacob 2.0”. In their way along the 6 seasons of LOST, our main survivors, Jack, James, Kate, John, Sun, Kin, Sayid, Charlie, Claire, Michael, and Hurley a.k.a. Hugo all encountered the “Man in Black” a.k.a. the Smoke Monster, Jacob’s brother, various times. He has been the one shape shifting into recognizable people from the start, and leading some of the survivors to play his game so he can get off the island once and for all. But along their journey of self-discovery, they’ve encountered people like Ben Linus, who at the time of season 2 was part of the savage group called the “Others”. The others captured Michael’s son, Walt in exchange for Ben who was also captured by one of the survivors. Michael struck a deal with the Others to get his son back by unorthodox ways. By the end of season 2, Jack, James and Kate get captured by the Others and Hugo is freed.
Season 3
Jack, James, and Kate work for the Others at a “Dharma” camp. The island’s scientific community who were interested in electro-magnetism. They have 6 stations set up all over the island each for different purposes. One of them was the reason their plane crashed. Season 3 is where we are introduced to time-travel and flash-forwards. A glimpse of what the lives of the main survivors look like after they get off the island. Just like the flashbacks in season 1 explaining each characters past life.
Seasons 4 and 5
The survivors are rescued from the Island and they get back to their lives and their past seems never to go away, especially Kate’s. We see that the Island can move if pushed by a lever and it causes a chain of flashes, which transport some of the characters through time until it stops, and they arrive in the 70’s where the Dharma camp was a true scientific community. A few new notable characters have appeared through these seasons, Daniel Faraday and his mother, Eloise Faraday, play a major role in time traveling. Charles Whitmore makes his presence known more throughout the 4th season. He persistently tries to attack the island with a squad of mercenaries (who killed Ben’s daughter, Alex and her mother, Russo a.k.a. the French Woman). Throughout season 5, the survivors who are back in L.A. are persuaded to go back to the island by Ben Linus who claims that he can go on and off the island as he pleases. He and another member of the Others succeeded in getting Michael back. Apparently Ben is involved in Special Operations, which had Sayid working for him. At the 5th season finale, all the survivors are back, ready to go to island again, as in season 6, they crash with a plane that is going to India.
Season 6
The final season is where the show picks up the pace and tries to answer some of the questions fans have been asking since the pilot episode. In season 6, Jacob is killed by Ben Linus, part of the master plan for his brother, the Smoke Monster to escape the island once for all. This is when Charles Whitmore makes his arrival to the island to blow it up and start a war with the Smoke Monster who is now entrapped in John Locke’s body. We also see more flash-forwards of our main survivors. What their life was like, had the Oceanic 815 not crashed into the island. A few characters such as Jin, Sun and Sayid died in the previous episodes and in the latest one, Jack became the new Jacob. Even though Jacob may be dead, they were still able to see him in spirit. Hurley saw him first, but eventually, Jacob finally showed himself to John, Kate, and James to explain why they were candidates and why they were brought to the island. He explains that Jacob’s brother, the Smoke Monster needs to die and that Jack needs to protect the island for as long as he can until a new chosen candidate can come. Jack has to go to the “light” explained in two episodes previous to this one where we see Jacob’s past with his brother and how his brother came to be the Smoke Monster. The series finale was on ABC, Sunday at 9 P.M. eastern time. Did you watch it? Post comments on what you thought of it and the series as a whole. Here is a promo video of the finale.

Man the finale pissed me off so much..they didnt answer any of the questions that were raised throughout the season...i still dont know what those fucking numbers mean. I thought the fact that the island was purgatory was a sick twist but they just did it so 'unsmoothly'....pretty dissapointing.
